Job summary

Alpine, an ITW company, is seeking a Senior Engineer to apply structural engineering expertise to wood truss solutions for customers. You will design and analyze trusses, review designs for Code compliance, and provide technical leadership to the team.

The role involves collaboration with customers and software developers, occasional site inspections, and travel up to 10%. A Civil Engineering degree and PE licensure (or the path to licensure with company support) are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field with coursework in statics, strength of materials, structural analysis, and structural design.
• 3+ years with a PE license or 10+ years without PE and ability to obtain PE with company support.
• Experience with truss design and drafting techniques, including plating methods and/or light-gauge steel connection methods, engineering notes, design manuals, and span tables.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, applicable building codes and design standards, particularly statics and strength of materials.
• Ability to read and interpret roof and framing layouts and develop structurally sound, practical, and cost-effective truss configurations.
• Strong communication, documentation, customer-service, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex structural solutions by designing and analyzing wood trusses, framing systems, repairs, and components using engineering principles and Alpine's software.
• Partner with customers to solve technical challenges, including evaluating framing layouts, calculating loads, supporting plan takeoffs, troubleshooting concerns, and identifying cost-effective designs.
• Review and validate engineering designs for technical accuracy and code compliance.
• Provide technical leadership by reviewing work, answering design questions, and supporting training.
• Support field and product needs, including occasional site inspections and investigations.
• Collaborate with Alpine's software team to enhance engineering and design tools.
