This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being deeply engaged in design, providing guidance to others, and helping deliver transformative transportation projects across the NYC metro area.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
What You’ll Do
  • Provide senior-level structural design and technical input for major rail + transit facilities, including stations, maintenance facilities, service buildings, coachyards, and right-of-way structures.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource on project teams, supporting design decisions and resolving complex structural challenges.
  • Produce and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports to ensure alignment with TYLin’s high standards and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and designers, fostering growth through technical guidance, collaboration, and thoughtful feedback.
  • Begin leading structural tasks and project components independently, coordinating closely with Project Managers to support successful delivery.
  • Perform structural analysis and design using steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems, including consideration of seismic and dynamic loading where applicable.
  • Support field investigations, condition assessments, and feasibility studies for existing and new transit infrastructure.
  • Collaborate in lockstep with multidisciplinary partners (architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, systems) to integrate structural solutions within active transit environments.
  • Participate in client coordination meetings, contributing technical expertise and helping maintain alignment with stakeholder expectations and operational needs.
What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience delivering structural designs for major transit agencies such as MTA C&D, Amtrak, LIRR, Metro-North, or similar organizations.
  • Strong technical command of steel and concrete structural systems and familiarity with applicable codes and standards including AREMA, AASHTO, IBC, and NYC-specific requirements.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, or similar.
  • Experience working in BIM/CAD environments including Revit, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or comparable platforms.
  • New York PE license required (SE or additional licensure is a plus).
  • A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to partner effectively with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A passion for design quality, mentorship, and contributing to impactful infrastructure that improves mobility and communities.
