Job summary

DEVITA Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer in Charlotte to join a growing team. This foundational hire offers project leadership, client development, and long-term growth opportunities within the Charlotte market.

You will produce structural designs, analyses, and permit documents for steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and wood systems while coordinating with internal stakeholders and clients. The role emphasizes ownership of project outcomes and profitability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' engineering experience; 8+ years preferred to include engineer-of-record responsibilities
• B.S. degree in civil, structural, or related field of engineering
• Professional Engineering licensure required, with ability to become licensed in multiple states
• Structural Engineering (SE) licensure preferred
• Experience with mentoring less experienced staff preferred
• Experience with a variety of structural systems including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
• Post-tension and podium design experience preferred
• Proficiency in REVIT preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering solutions and construction documents on multiple projects, on budget and on schedule
• Coordinate structural team activities and supervise/check work of designers and sub-consultants
• Design structural systems for multi-family, commercial, institutional, and manufacturing facilities
• Manage and lead client projects, including scope, fees, scheduling, and coordination with stakeholders
• Coordinate technical requirements with clients, PMs, designers, engineers and other disciplines
• Lead client communication with meetings, coordination and issue resolution
• Identify and support new business opportunities, including participation in proposals and client meetings
• Help establish standards, workflows and best practices for the Charlotte structural team
• Mentor junior staff and support growth of the department
• Take ownership of project outcomes: quality, financial performance, client satisfaction, profitability
