Qualifications

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience with RAM Structural System and STAAD.
  • Familiarity with ENERCALC and Mathcad.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Experience with renovations/inspections preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are hiring for aSenior Structural Engineerto join our team on a full-time, direct basis and lead projects while based in the Tallahassee, FLarea.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee structural design & analysis of building structural systems and components for a variety of markets including but not limited to:commercial, institutional, educational, public-sector, industrial facilities, etc.
  • Project types include but are not limited to structural design for new construction; limited inspection and observation of on-going construction; modification / renovation / expansion and addition of existing structures; condition assessment of existing structures for various applications such as pre-purchase due-diligence, renovations, adaptive reuse, etc.
  • Interface directly with the various project stakeholders, such as owners / clients, architects & engineering consultants and sub-consultants, construction managers and contractors, fabricators, etc. to further coordinate on projects and to foster positive relationships. Communication is conducted both virtually and in-person.
  • Manage assigned projects inclusive of proposal writing; establishing project scope / tasks; developing project schedules; manage budgets; manage / oversee a project design team; mentor and work with project engineers, junior staff & drafters; maintain project schedules; perform QAQC of reports and construction documents; etc.
  • Monitor project financial performance by reviewing monthly project billings, invoices and accounts receivable reports for assigned projects. Verification of billing accuracy and balancing of project budgets prior to invoicing. Coordinate with project managers and accounting staff to maintain financial records, support timely collections, and achieve project profitability goals.
  • Perform structural design, analysis and detailing for a variety of construction materials, including but not limited to: concrete, steel, masonry, wood, and cold-form metal framing, etc.
  • Perform structural design and analysis utilizing various company software and spreadsheets and other design tools. Prepare formal & informal calculations as necessary for each project.
  • Prepare design markups for production drafting of drawings sets and / or construction sketches. Perform production drafting and modeling in AutoCAD and / or REVIT.
  • On occasion, perform a variety of field-oriented tasks, such as: accompany project engineers and / or junior staff on field investigations & condition assessments, construction site visits, limited structural inspections, etc. and generate corresponding site observation or assessment reports. Tri-state travel inside of our immediate region and occasionally beyond is to be expected (10% +/- travel is considered normal).
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage client relationships and staff
  • Perform and oversee a variety of structural design, renovation, and inspection projects for various applications: new construction, design build, renovations, adaptive reuse, etc.
  • Perform and oversee structural design & analysis of building structural systems for a variety of markets:commercial, institutional, educational, public-sector, and industrial facilities.
  • Design, detailing, and analysis of structures for low-rise & mid-rise buildings with a variety of materials (e.g.: concrete, steel, masonry, wood, and cold-form steel).
  • Perform and oversee the preparation of calculations and drawings for reports.
  • Develop finite element models for the analysis of complex structures.
  • Perform field-oriented tasks (e.g.:investigations, site visits, threshold inspections, condition assessments, etc.) and develop corresponding site visit reports.
  • Work directly with clients to foster positive relationships and maintain base business accounts.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, South Florida
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with Structural discipline emphasis.
  • 8 years+ years of professional experience working in Structural Engineering.
  • Active P.E. license in Florida.
  • Possessing some of their own base-business accounts is a plus
  • Proficiency with engineering / CADD / BIM tools; experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software; experience with RAM (especially Structural Systems and/or Elements), STAAD, ENERCALC, and/or Mathcad are preferred.
  • Proficiency in all standard Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience working with the design and analysis of a variety of structural systems / complex projects; experience with nonlinear structural analysis is a plus!
  • Experience working with structural inspections / assessments, especially with renovation projects.
  • Strong attention-to-detail skills with the proven ability to work with a high-level of accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
