Job summary

EAPC is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural design and detailing for new and renovated buildings. You will coordinate with architects, MEP, and other disciplines to ensure quality, code-compliant structures.

The role requires PE licensure, 8+ years of experience, and US work authorization. Based in Sioux Falls, SD, you will mentor EITs and oversee CAD/Revit technicians, contributing to project budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSCE required.
• Professional Engineer registration required (PE).
• 8+ years in design/detailing of buildings/structures (steel/concrete/wood).
• Knowledge of building codes for structural design.
• Experience mentoring EITs and signing/stamping work.
• Ability to review others' work and stamp as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Provide structural design, detailing, and calculations for new and renovated buildings.
• Coordinate structural designs with architecture, MEP, and other disciplines.
• Edit and write structural specifications.
• Conduct structural investigations and feasibility studies with cost estimates.
• Mentor EIT staff and supervise CAD/Revit staff to complete drawings.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and conduct site visits.
• Support project managers with budgets/schedules and proposal development.
• Collaborate with the Structural Department Manager as an integrated team member.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer who is eager to advance their career with an award-winning, full-service design and consulting firm!

At EAPC, our team of architects, engineers, interior designers, construction managers, and other professionals work together to create stunning structures and designs for optimum performance.

As a Senior Structural Engineer at EAPC, you will:

• Provide structural design, detailing, and calculations as required for all phases of the design of new buildings and structures as well as additions to and renovations of existing buildings and structures.
• Coordinate structural designs with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, civil, etc.
• Edit and write structural specifications.
• Perform structural investigations and/or feasibility studies including the writing of reports and providing cost estimates when required.
• Provide mentorship/training to EIT-level staff
• Provide direction to CAD/Revit specialists as required to complete structural drawings.
• Perform construction administration activities such as the review of material shop drawings, responding to contractor RFIs and construction questions, construction site visits, etc.
• Perform site visits as required to field verify existing conditions, dimensions, elevations, etc.
• Assist project managers in the development of internal design budgets and schedules as required.
• Assist the department manager in determining anticipated project scope, deliverables, fees, etc. as required to complete proposals to provide structural engineering services to external clients

Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• Registration as a Professional Engineer
• Minimum 8 years of demonstrated experience in the design and detailing of buildings and structures utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood
• Knowledge of relevant building codes related to the structural design of buildings and structures
• Proficient with structural design software such as RAM, RISA, Enercalc, or similar programs
• Experience mentoring/training structural EITs
• Demonstrated ability to sign and stamp individual work as well as review and stamp the work of other structural engineers or EITs
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills as well as interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite
• Valid driver's license
• Able to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

The position will report directly to the Structural Department Manager and will work as an integrated member of a multi-discipline, in-house team of engineers, architects, and drafting technicians.

Compensation is based on the applicant's skills, education, and other qualifications.
