Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a Senior Structural Analyst to perform and coordinate structural analysis of the First Stage Fluid System for the New Glenn launch vehicle. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of structural and dynamic analysis of pressurized components and systems including valves and tubing.
  • Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred) for structural, dynamic, and thermal analyses.
  • 3D CAD proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks or NX.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, material selection and component testing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate structural analysis on the First Stage Fluid System of the New Glenn launch vehicle.
  • Develop configuration studies and novel analysis approaches for challenging problems.
  • Craft analysis reports to support drawing releases and assist structural test development.
  • Perform post-test analysis and disposition manufacturing defects; analyze structural repairs.
  • Collaborate to ensure safety, reliability, and quality in spaceflight programs.

This is a hands-on position that involves all aspects of structural analysis, including: configuration development and trade studies, developing novel and efficient approaches to challenging analysis problems, crafting analysis reports to support drawing releases, supporting structural test development, performing post-test analysis, dispositioning manufacturing defects, analyzing structural repairs, and more.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!**Special Mentions*** Relocation provided* Interviews will include a technical assessment**Minimum Qualifications:*** Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!* Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent* 5+ years of experience in the structural and dynamic analysis of pressurized components and systems including valves, tubing/piping, pressure vessels* Experience with FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred) including structural, dynamic, and thermal analyses* Working knowledge of 3D CAD programs (Creo / Solidworks / NX)* Knowledge of manufacturing methods, material selection and component testing* Ability to use structural hand-calcs to make quick effective decisions* Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion* Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Mastery of the application and use of machining, additive manufacturing, welding and/or casting and their effects on structural integrity* Experience with common fluids system materials such as high strength aluminum alloys, nickel-based Superalloys, titanium alloys, and corrosion resistant steels* Experience with cryogenic and elevated temperature systems and the applicable analysis approaches* Experience with fatigue analysis and linear-elastic fracture mechanics (hand calculations, NASGRO, etc.)* Working knowledge of metallic and composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs)* Demonstrated process automation experience using scripting (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.)* Very proficient with one or more of the following analysis codes: Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Optistruct### Base Pay Range for:WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20**Other site ranges may differ** **Culture Statement**Don’t meet all desired requirements?
