Job summary

City of Houston's Public Works department is seeking a Senior Assistant Director to lead the Street and Bridge Branch within Transportation and Drainage Operations. The role requires directing maintenance, rehabilitation of roadways and bridges, overseeing multi-million dollar budgets, and coordinating with other departments and external partners.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree, 10+ years of related experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to implement strategic plans

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year degree from a college or university; professional certification/licensing may be required.
• More than ten years of related professional experience.
• Valid driver's license and compliance with City driving policy.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Street and Bridge Branch within Transportation and Drainage Operations.
• Oversee maintenance and rehabilitation of transportation systems and facilities (roads, bridges, overlays, patches, paving, inspections).
• Manage budget and projects; currently over $48M; ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
• Liaise with other departments, government agencies, and the private sector.
