Motional seeks an analytically minded professional to directly support the Chief of Staff and executive team in driving key strategic initiatives from our Boston office. This high-visibility role requires coordinating cross-functional projects and managing critical communications to stakeholders and the Board.

The ideal candidate blends a technical foundation with proven strategy or PMO experience to drive complex initiatives and improve organizational processes, with four onsite days per week

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a fast-growth environment, ideally in strategy consulting, PMO, or an internal strategy role.
• High autonomy in a dynamic setting, ability to work with limited information and make sound judgments.
• Technical background with engineering or data-analysis understanding.
• Proven project management skills, coordinating multiple stakeholders from inception to completion.
• Strong analytical thinking and clear written and verbal communication for executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid ad-hoc analysis on emerging opportunities or threats when needed.

Motional’s global headquarters are located at 100 Northern Avenue in Boston, MA. Nestled in the bustling Seaport district with sweeping views of Boston Harbor and downtown Boston, the office is located close to major transit lines and a quick walk to various restaurants and popular attractions.

This role requires a minimum of four days per week onsite at our Boston location. This includes in-office working days Monday through Thursday. Please note this may vary subject to business needs.

Mission Summary:

This is a high visibility, pivotal role for an analytically-minded and highly organized individual to directly support the Chief of Staff (CoS) and executive team in driving key strategic initiatives across the company.

The ideal candidate will blend a technical foundation with proven project management or strategy expertise to effectively coordinate complex, cross-functional efforts and manage critical communication workflows.

What you’ll be doing:

• Strategic Project Coordination & Execution
• Lead Project Management: Own the coordination, tracking, and communication of high-priority strategic projects that span multiple internal teams (e.g., Engineering, Operations, Finance, People, Legal) and organizational levels.
• Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for the CoS with departmental leads, proactively ensuring alignment, surfacing and unblocking roadblocks, and maintaining momentum on key initiatives.
• Meeting Management: Prepare agendas, presentations, and follow-up documentation for internal strategy reviews and project steering committee meetings with minimal guidance.
• Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management
• Shareholder Communication Support: Conduct analytical review and drafting/editing of responses to high-stakes internal and external communications, particularly emails and reports directed to shareholders, executive leadership, and the Board of Directors.
• Information Synthesis: Digest complex technical, financial, and operational information into clear, concise, and strategic summaries that drive executive consumption and decision-making.
• Executive Briefing: Prepare the CoS for critical meetings by delivering timely and relevant research, talking points, and data-driven insights.
• Operational Support & Chief of Staff Partnership
• Prioritization Support: Partner with the CoS in managing and prioritizing their strategic calendar, aligning time and resources with the company’s highest priorities.
• Process Improvement: Identify and continuously implement efficiencies in organizational processes and reporting structures to streamline the CoS office operations.
• Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct rapid, targeted research and analysis on emerging business opportunities or threats to inform strategic planning. Comfort with ambiguous, fast-moving, and challenging special projects.

What we’re looking for:

Required:

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a fast-growth environment, ideally within a strategy consulting firm, internal corporate strategy team, Program Management Office (PMO), or an operational role with a strategic focus.
• High Autonomy & Adaptability: Thrives in a dynamic, fluid environment. Comfortable operating with limited information, making sound judgement calls, and executing independently with minimal supervision.
• Technical Background: Demonstrated understanding of technical concepts, engineering workflows, or data analysis (e.g., a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field).
• Project Management Acumen: Proven ability to manage complex projects, shepherd multiple stakeholders and competing priorities, from inception to completion.
• Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to think analytically, structure complex arguments, clearly communicate (written and verbal) and to conduct persuasive narratives for executive and external audiences.

Bonus points (not required):

• Industry Experience: Experience working in a fast paced technology sector.
• Financial Literacy: Basic understanding of financial statements and corporate governance to effectively support shareholder communications.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors including but not limited to specific skills, experience and expertise, role location, certifications, licenses, and business needs. This role may include additional forms of compensation such as a bonus or company equity. Salary Range: $109,000 USD - $142,000 USD
