Job summary

Lambda Inc. in San Francisco/Bellevue seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the storage team, building next-generation storage software for AI workloads.

You will work on distributed storage control planes, capacity planning, and tenant isolation, ensuring high performance and reliability across diverse platforms. The role requires 5+ years in storage systems, strong C/C++, Go, or Python skills, and experience with Linux kernel internals, storage protocols, and container orchestration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development for storage systems.
• Distributed systems concepts: load balancing, data durability, consensus, fault tolerance, data consistency.
• Strong programming in C, C++, Go, or Python; Linux kernel internals experience.
• Experience with storage protocols (S3, NFS) and Ceph/DAOS or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a vendor-agnostic storage control plane across major platforms.
• Define an internal abstraction layer to hide vendor APIs behind a declarative interface.
• Develop reconciliation loops and CRD-based orchestration for multi-tenant environments.
• Own end-to-end multi-tenant isolation and per-tenant QoS.
• Design capacity/placement engine with PCIe/NUMA/failure-domain awareness.
• Instrument systems with SLI/SLOs and observability pipelines.
