Job summary

Cornerstone Defense LLC in Laurel, Maryland, seeks a Senior Storage Administrator/Engineer to manage enterprise backup systems, storage arrays, SAN environments, and related infrastructure. This role emphasizes security, resiliency, and compliance, with on‑call rotation.

The ideal candidate has Security+ CE or higher and at least 10 years of relevant experience as a systems/storage administrator, with hands‑on work on NetBackup, Cohesity, Commvault, Rubrik, and SAN zoning.

Qualifications

• Security+ CE or higher‑level cybersecurity certification.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience as a Systems Administrator or Storage Administrator.

Responsibilities

• Analyze DoD cyber workforce, policy readiness, and operations.
• Monitor and manage enterprise backup systems (NetBackup, Cohesity, Commvault, Rubrik).
• Onboard new servers/VMs into backup solutions and troubleshoot issues.
• Configure backup solutions as procured.
• Troubleshoot backup appliances and storage arrays (Oracle ZFS, NetApp, Vast, IBM).
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve SAN issues including zoning configuration.
• Collaborate with ISSO to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure SSP compliance.
• Maintain daily operations and support after‑hours on‑call responsibilities.

Position Description:
The Senior Storage Administrator/Engineer supports the Corporate Storage Team by providing expert‑level technical, operational, and analytical support for enterprise backup systems, storage arrays, SAN environments, and related infrastructure. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing backup and storage capabilities while ensuring system security, resiliency, and compliance. The position operates out of Emerson 6 and includes scheduled rotational on‑call duties for after‑hours support.

Core Tasks:

• Conduct deliberate analysis supporting DoD cyber workforce, cyber operations forces, and readiness policy development.
• Monitor and manage enterprise backup systems, including NetBackup, Cohesity, Commvault, and Rubrik platforms.
• Work directly with customers to onboard new servers and virtual machines into backup solutions and troubleshoot related issues.
• Configure new backup solutions as they are procured and brought into the environment.
• Troubleshoot and coordinate break/fix efforts for backup appliances (NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik) and storage arrays including Oracle ZFS, NetApp, Vast, and IBM systems.
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve SAN issues, including command‑line troubleshooting and zoning configuration.
• Collaborate with the ISSO to ensure security vulnerabilities are properly remediated and systems remain compliant.
• Support ISSO activities related to System Security Plan (SSP) re‑authorization.
• Maintain reliable daily operations and support after-hours requirements via rotational on-call responsibilities.
