Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to support the Sterile Processing department in Galveston. You will assist in decontamination, assembly of surgical instruments, and sterilization, ensuring safe, efficient workflow across assigned medical specialties.

Under supervision, you will maintain instrument counts, document processes, and communicate issues to leadership. The role requires adherence to safety standards and patient safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four (4) years related experience and Certified Registered.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment and ensures continuous flow of work.
• Assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings.
• Sterilizes instruments and trays following prescribed policies and procedures.
• Picks and prepares case carts for procedures and distributes supplies as requested.
• Assists in shift supervision and maintains instrument counts and documentation.
