Job summary

Yora Sigma in the United States is seeking a Senior Steering Wheel Engineer to own steering wheel development from concept to production in a US on-site role (CA or MI). You will lead design, specify system requirements, drive validation, and collaborate with design, NVH, UX, digital and interior teams to balance performance and manufacturability.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in automotive product development, experience with steering wheels or restraint systems, GD&T, CAD, supplier

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive product development experience.
• Experience with steering wheels, restraint systems, interior systems or similar.
• Experience leading lifecycle from concept to production launch.
• Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials, material properties, kinematics.
• Experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation.
• Knowledge of metal forming, stamping and plastic injection molding.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• CAD experience evaluating packaging and interfaces.
• Experience managing suppliers and driving technical deliverables.
• Basic understanding of electronics and automotive networking.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and release of steering wheel systems from concept through production
• Develop system specifications, packaging concepts, drawings and engineering requirements
• Drive design validation and support manufacturing and production launch
• Work closely with design, NVH, UX, digital and interior engineering teams
• Balance performance, safety, quality, weight and manufacturability
• Manage Tier 1 suppliers and drive technical development and program timing
• Support restraint system integration and CAE optimization
• Support crash testing, validation and homologation activities
• Perform investigations and root cause analysis
• Continue supporting and improving the product after start of production
