Job summary

Sirius Staffing is urgently seeking a Senior Structural Steel Detailer (AutoCAD) to support an industrial engineering and fabrication team in a contract-to-hire capacity. The role focuses on producing detailed fabrication drawings, erection drawings, material cut lists, and CNC burn table templates for shop production.

The candidate will interpret complex engineering drawings, coordinate with engineers and fabrication personnel, and ensure accuracy, safety, and adherence to project specs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of structural steel detailing experience.
• Advanced proficiency in 2D AutoCAD for fabrication detailing.
• Experience producing fabrication-ready shop drawings.
• Experience creating material cut lists and burn table templates.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, welding, and bolted connections.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and fabrication requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing priorities.

Sirius Staffing is urgently seeking two experienced Senior Structural Steel Detailer (AutoCAD) to support an industrial engineering and fabrication team. These are 6-month contract-to-hire opportunities with the potential for permanent employment. Position Summary: The Senior Steel Detailer needs extensive hands-on experience producing detailed structural steel and platework fabrication drawings, erection drawings, material cut lists, and CNC burn table templates.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 2D AutoCAD shop drawings from engineering and design drawings for structural steel and platework fabrication.
• Prepare fabrication drawings for structural support steel, platework, panels, stairs, platforms, and walkway access systems.
• Generate accurate erection drawings to support field installation and assembly.
• Create material cut lists, fabrication layouts, and CNC burn table templates for shop production.
• Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication specifications, and project requirements.
• Detail structural steel components, including welded and bolted connections.
• Assist with detailing basic AISC-standard connections using engineer-provided loads.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and fabrication personnel to resolve design conflicts and fabrication issues.
• Review and check shop drawings prepared by other steel detailers for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
• Manage drawing revisions and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Ensure drawings contain the dimensions, materials, and fabrication information required for production.
• Support shop production by delivering accurate drawings and cutting templates within required deadlines.
• Ensure all drawings comply with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel detailing, steel platework fabrication, or structural steel fabrication.
• Advanced proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, specifically for structural steel and fabrication detailing.
• Demonstrated experience producing fabrication-ready shop drawings.
• Experience creating material cut lists and burn table templates.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, welding, and bolted connections.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and fabrication requirements.
• Strong mathematical, dimensional accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience coordinating with engineers, designers, and fabrication teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational or technical training in drafting, steel detailing, or a related discipline.
• Experience with 3D steel detailing or modeling software.
• Familiarity with AISC standards and structural steel connection detailing.
• Experience reviewing and checking drawings completed by other detailers.
• Background supporting industrial fabrication shops or heavy industrial construction projects.
• Experience with electrostatic precipitators, baghouses, structural support systems, industrial ductwork, or similar equipment.
• Experience working on projects for power plants, paper mills, refineries, or other industrial facilities.
