Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR seeks a Steam Main Propulsion Engineering & Control Systems SME to provide technical oversight and maintenance support for Navy steam propulsion aboard surface warships and auxiliary vessels. Responsibilities include engineering readiness, maintenance execution, and lifecycle sustainment in support of U.S.

Navy fleet operations. The role focuses on propulsion plant operations, assessments, and readiness initiatives with strict adherence to Navy standards and procedures.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of supervisory watchstanding aboard warships or military vessels with steam propulsion.
• Direct recent experience (last 5 years) with steam propulsion, turbines, generators and control/auxiliary systems.
• Navy fleet readiness, maintenance, modernization, or lifecycle sustainment experience preferred.
• Bachelor's or related engineering discipline required, equivalent Navy training considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for steam propulsion plant operations and maintenance.
• Serve as SME for steam turbine propulsion systems and associated control systems.
• Oversee maintenance planning and depot-level activities for propulsion systems.
• Monitor plant performance and ensure readiness in line with Navy standards.
• Mentor engineering personnel and shipboard operators.
• Analyze data to identify improvements and reliability gains.
• Coordinate with ship's force and government reps to resolve issues.
• Develop and implement engineering procedures and readiness initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with Navy engineering, maintenance, safety requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and readiness updates for leadership.
