  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil or related field with 3 years in structural design/analysis in aerospace.
  • Able to apply technical principles to solve complex problems using standard methods.
  • Ability to create and present technical documents and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Support in-service airline repairs of aircraft structure.
  • Develop integrated and certified repair solutions for airlines and internal customers.
  • Ensure repairs restore airworthiness of aircraft.
  • Perform static analysis of airframe structures via hand methods, FEA, Bruhn and Niu.
  • Collaborate with Design, Fatigue and other Airbus departments to optimize repairs.
  • Manage workflow for self and teammates and guide project completion.
  • Deliver on customer requirements through effective project execution.

TITLE: Stress Senior Engineer (In- Service Repair)

EMPLOYER: Airbus Americas, Inc.

LOCATION: Wichita, KS

DUTIES
  • Support the airline in-service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure.
  • Create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for the airlines and internal customers.
  • Ensure that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition.
  • Perform complex stress/strength analyses to assess the structural integrity requirements have been met using standard hand and computer methods.
  • Collaborate with Design, Fatigue and other appropriate Airbus departments to develop optimum design solutions for the airline customer.
  • Manage workflow for self and teammates.
  • Guide the successful completion of projects and execute activities to achieve customer requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field and 3 years in any job title involving experience in structural design, analysis, and mechanics of materials in the aerospace industry.
  • Applying technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve technical problems
  • Creating and delivering technical documents and presentations
  • Performing Static analysis of airframe structures using classical hand analysis methods, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and industry standard methods including Bruhn and Niu
  • Designing and justifying complex repair solutions for aircraft structures
  • Interpreting maintenance documentation techniques and procedures including SRM, NTM, AMM, CMM, or IPC
  • Applying programming languages including Excel-VBA, Python, or JavaScript for automating analysis methods and processes
  • Using Design and Stress tools including CATIA for structural analysis of repairs and modifications of aircraft parts
  • Up to 20% telework permitted.
