Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Waynesboro, VA seeks a Senior Staff Test Design Hardware Engineer for 100% on-site work. The role requires a U.S.

government Secret clearance and SAP eligibility, with extensive hardware design and integration responsibilities across analog, digital and RF domains. You will lead hardware development and verification efforts, collaborate on panel/cable design, use lab test equipment like network analyzers and oscilloscopes, and ensure design-to-cost, scope, and schedule

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, master’s degree with 12 years, or Ph.D. with 10 years in STEM fields; 4 extra years may substitute for a degree.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain active U.S. Government Secret Clearance and SAP access.
• Experience in hardware design and integrated analog/power/digital hardware.

This position is based out of Waynesboro VA and will be 100% on‑site.

• Console Design.

• Power/Cooling Monitor and Control.
• RF Design.
• Electronic Circuit Design.
• SW/HW integration.
• Requirements verification.
• Actively support the investigation, resolution and documentation of product anomalies.
• Understand Design to Cost, Scope and Schedule.

Basic Qualifications for Senior Staff Test Design Hardware Engineer

• Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, master’s degree with 12 years of experience or Ph.D. with 10 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
• Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Experience in hardware design.
• Experience with integrated (analog, power, digital) hardware design.
• Experience in panel design, cable design, and schematic layouts.
• Experience with lab test equipment such as Network Analyzers, DMM and O‑Scopes.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Engineering or related STEM discipline.
• Automated Test Equipment (ATE) design and integration background.
• Ability to work with minimal direction and guidance.
• Experience with LabWindows CVI, C / C++ programming.
• TestStand programming.
• Proficiency with digital, analog, RF test equipment, RF theory and high‑speed digital design.
• Familiarity with differential digital interfaces such as LVDS and PXI/PXIe; VME bus experience.
• Experience with schematic design tools such as Mentor Graphics, Zuken, Capital.
• Hands‑on troubleshooting with electrical hardware and software automation.
• PCB Layout experience.
• Technical Lead experience.
• Active Secret or higher clearance.

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $151,400.00 – $227,000.00 (subject to factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions).
