Job summary

SciTec, a Firefly Aerospace subsidiary, is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, and sustain high-quality software systems for mission-focused data processing workflows.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, real-time data pipelines, and collaboration with scientific users. Strong expertise in C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python is expected, along with DoD clearance eligibility. Minimal travel and a focus on mentorship are implied.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming and modern language features.
• Hands-on experience with microservice architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with automated testing and Git version control.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-quality software for distributed systems and real-time data pipelines.
• Collaborate with development teams to deliver features end-to-end.
• Engage with scientific users to translate analysis needs into robust software solutions.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of messaging systems and data pipelines.
• Contribute to containerized microservice architectures, including deployment and testing.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Promote testing, documentation, and maintainable engineering practices.
• Participate in Agile development activities and risk assessment.
