Job summary

Ping Identity is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to turn ideas into production capabilities within a fast‑paced, global Platform Engineering team.

You will own IAM capabilities across the Ping platform, design APIs and services, prototype AI‑infused features, and collaborate with product, UX, and engineering to deliver secure, scalable solutions that meet customer needs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Deliver IAM capabilities across the Ping platform from infrastructure to UI.
• Contribute to API design and implementation, models, workflows, and services.
• Prototype solutions in emerging areas and turn ideas into product features.
• Work with PM, UX, and engineering to refine features for scalable outcomes.
• Participate in design, coding, testing, rollout, and production support.
• Leverage AI tooling to accelerate research, coding, and documentation while maintaining judgment.
• Communicate clearly and mentor peers through reviews and discussions.
• Adapt to evolving customer needs and trends.

Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer who can turn ideas into production capabilities and thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative, cross‑functional, global team.

You Will

• Deliver IAM (Identity & Access Management) capabilities across the Ping platform, encompassing the whole stack from infrastructure and databases to UI experiences.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of APIs, models, workflows, orchestration surfaces, and services.
• Research and prototype solutions in emerging areas, working with senior technical leaders and product teams to turn validated ideas into product features.
• Work closely with product management, UX, and engineering teams across Ping to refine features and designs, delivering elegant, usable, and scalable outcomes for customers.
• Participate in the entire development lifecycle—design, coding, testing, rollout, and production support.
• Use modern AI tooling such as Claude Code to accelerate research, code understanding, prototyping, implementation, and documentation while maintaining strong engineering judgment.
• Communicate clearly, share knowledge, and support other engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and delivery.
• Adapt quickly to evolving customer needs, technology trends, and new ways of working.

You Have

• Experience designing, building, testing, and operating production services using Java, JavaScript, Google Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes, with a desire to broaden your expertise.
• Proficiency in using AI engineering tools to accelerate research, code understanding, prototyping, implementation, and documentation while applying sound engineering judgment.
• Background building production services, distributed systems, or shared platform capabilities.
• Experience designing and implementing APIs, RESTful services, integration contracts, data or domain models.
• Skills in turning requirements and ambiguous problems into designs, prototypes, and production‑ready solutions.
• Experience with authentication, authorisation, and identity management.
• Strong technical communication skills, collaborating across teams and time zones, and supporting peers through feedback and knowledge sharing.

Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, token exchange, policy systems, delegated administration, or identity data modelling.
• Experience with AI agent identity and non‑human identity.
• Familiarity with MCP, agent skills, and other agent integration concepts.
• Experience working across multiple codebases, teams, or product areas to ship cohesive outcomes.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Experience working as part of an international team.
• Experience contributing to technical designs and proof‑of‑concept work.
