Google LLC in Mountain View seeks a senior data scientist to build and deploy data science solutions that advance large language model performance.

You will work with large, complex datasets, develop ML approaches to improve model outcomes, and define data excellence standards across training data workflows, collaborating with Product and Engineering to shape strategy and product direction. Onsite, competitive compensation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work with large, complex datasets to tackle advanced and ambitious data science problems.
• Develop and deploy machine learning approaches that improve model outcomes through higher-quality training data.
• Define data excellence standards and apply them to training data workflows.
• Create and refine methodologies that boost model performance, including data acquisition and actionable insights.
• Define key success metrics across different formats and measurement needs.
• Present findings to executive stakeholders and executives; clearly defend work and use insights to shape strategy and product direction.
• Collaborate cross-functionally across product and model teams, working closely with Product Management and engineering to identify opportunities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or related) or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, including coding (Python, R, SQL), and querying databases or performing statistical analysis; or 8 years of work experience with a PhD.
• Proficiency with Python, R, and SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

• 12 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, including coding (Python, R, SQL), and querying databases or statistical analysis; or 10 years with a PhD.
• Experience in Deep Learning, Infrastructure Systems, or Reinforcement Learning.
