Job summary

Discord is seeking a Senior Staff Program Manager to build Discord’s creator strategy from the ground up in the San Francisco Bay Area. You’ll start with a selected group of creators, establish foundations, and design programs that scale while maintaining strong relationships with the communities you serve.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in creator partnerships, community, platform programs, marketing, product partnerships, or a related field.
• Deeply familiar with how creators build audiences and manage communities across platforms.
• Experience building and operating creator or partner programs at scale.
• Bias to ship and iterate, launching a first version and expanding later.
• Comfortable leading as an individual contributor with cross-functional influence.
• Excellent cross-functional partnership across Support, Product, Marketing, Comms, Partnerships, Policy.
• Ability to turn creator feedback into product changes and platform strategy.

Discord has a highly engaged community of millions of daily active users who use the platform for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does: play video games. We have an opportunity to listen more closely, serve them more intentionally, and build a relationship that reflects the role they play on our platform.

We’re hiring a Senior Staff Program Manager to build Discord’s approach to creators from the ground up. You’ll begin with a selected group of creators already using Discord, build the fundamentals that serve them well, and develop programs that make their experience on Discord better. Over time, you’ll turn what works into programs that can serve creators at scale and, eventually, give new creators more reasons to choose Discord. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who can lead through judgment, relationships, and execution. You’ll report to the Director of Marketing, Player Communications and partner closely with Support, Product, Marketing, Communications, Partnerships, Policy, and more.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build Discord’s creator strategy from the bottom up, starting with direct conversations and a clear understanding of what creators already on Discord need from us.
• Bring together the creator work that exists across Discord today, establish clear ownership, and turn a collection of early efforts into a coherent program.
• Define who we mean by creators and develop an initial approach for selecting and serving a trusted group across games, platforms, formats, and communities.
• Create more than one program for creators, beginning with the fundamentals: accelerated support, clear paths for escalation, and reliable channels for two-way communication.
• Manage relationships with important creators directly. Understand how they use Discord, help them solve meaningful problems, and build trust by following through.
• Build a creator council or network that gives us a consistent view of what creators are seeing, where Discord is falling short, and what would make the platform more useful to them and their communities.
• Build systems and playbooks that let a selected program grow over time without losing the relationships and responsiveness that made it valuable.

What you should have

• A strong passion for Discord and/or gaming, and an appreciation for the creators and communities we serve.
• 7+ years in creator partnerships, community, platform programs, marketing, product partnerships, or a related field.
• Deeply familiar with how creators build audiences, operate their businesses, and manage communities across platforms like YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Instagram, Patreon, Reddit, and Discord.
• You have built and operated creator or partner programs at scale, and you understand how to begin with a selected group without designing something that can never grow beyond it.
• Biased to ship and iterate. You can launch a useful first version, learn from it, and raise the ambition over time.
• Comfortable leading as an individual contributor. You create alignment and momentum across teams without relying on headcount or reporting lines.
• An excellent cross-functional partner across Support, Product, Marketing, Comms, Partnerships, Policy, and more.

• You have built a creator, partner, ambassador, advisory, or VIP program for a consumer platform.
• You have designed accelerated support or escalation programs for influential users.
• You have worked directly with gaming creators and understand the relationship between creators, games, and communities.
• You have built programs involving product access, creator events, recognition, or discovery.
• You have helped turn creator feedback into product changes, policies, or platform strategy.
• You have built a program that began with a small trusted group and expanded without losing what made it valuable.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $256,000 to $288,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.

Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties). Relocation assistance may be available.
