Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Product Designer to shape the future of its product experience. You will lead through craft, systems thinking, and deep understanding of customer workflows, partnering with product, engineering, and AI teams to align design with business goals.

You’ll translate complex data-driven problems into intuitive experiences, mentor designers, contribute to the design system, and champion AI-enabled workflows that are trustworthy and scalable.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in product design with a strong portfolio.
• Bachelor's degree in product design, HCI, CS, or related field.
• Expert in end-to-end customer workflows and data-rich problems.
• Proficient in design and prototyping tools; can communicate via flows and hi-fi prototypes.
• Strong collaboration with engineering; knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS; React a bonus.
• Active use of AI to augment design from research to iteration.
• Awareness of AI and search tech and applying it to product experiences.
• Leads complex projects end-to-end; navigates ambiguity.
• Mentors designers and elevates craft across the team.
• Excellent communication and storytelling; influences stakeholders.
• Curious, proactive, and able to drive context and momentum.
• Experience in financial services, investment workflows, or data-heavy SaaS is a plus.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Staff Product Designer to join our growing team and play a key role in shaping the future of AlphaSense's product experience. This is a Staff-level individual contributor role, where you’ll lead through design craft, systems thinking, and a deep understanding of our customers’ workflows.

In this role, you will drive strategic design initiatives - translating complex, data-rich problems into intuitive, high-quality experiences that feel tailored to how our customers actually work. You'll bring clarity to ambiguity, define end-to-end workflows, and ensure our product experiences are cohesive, scalable, and grounded in real user needs.

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and AI teams to shape how capabilities come together into meaningful user experiences - from early concept through execution. You'll balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints, ensuring we deliver experiences that are not only functional, but differentiated through quality and usability.

As a senior member of the Design team, you'll act as a multiplier, mentoring other designers, contributing to our design systems and patterns, and helping raise the bar for craft and consistency across the product. You'll play a critical role in defining how we deliver AI-native workflows, ensuring they are intuitive, trustworthy, and seamlessly integrated into our customers’ day-to-day work.

Who You Are:

• 10+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in interaction design, systems thinking, and delivering high-quality, user-centered experiences.

• Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Deep expertise in designing end-to-end customer workflows, with a proven ability to simplify complex, data-rich problems into intuitive, habit-forming product experiences.

• Highly proficient in design and prototyping tools, with the ability to communicate ideas through flows, systems, and high-fidelity prototypes.

• Strong collaboration with engineering teams, with working knowledge of modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Bonus if you have experience with React or similar frameworks.

• Actively leverage AI to augment your design process from research and ideation to prototyping and iteration, and continuously build fluency with modern AI tools and workflows.

• Strong awareness of emerging AI and search technologies, with curiosity and initiative to apply new capabilities to real product experiences.

• Proven ability to lead complex projects end-to-end, navigate ambiguity, and drive clarity across cross-functional teams.

• Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing other designers, helping raise the bar for craft, systems thinking, and execution.

• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Highly curious, thoughtful, and driven, able to quickly build context, form strong points of view, and push work forward.

• Experience in financial services, investment workflows, or data-heavy SaaS products is a plus.

• Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI capabilities, applying new ideas to continuously improve product experiences.

• Communicate complex ideas with clarity and influence, ensuring alignment and momentum across cross-functional partners.

• Collaborate closely with engineering throughout development, advocating for design quality and ensuring a high bar for execution, usability, and attention to detail.
