At CesiumAstro, we are developers and pioneers of out-of-the-box communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We take pride in our dynamic and cross-functional work environment, which allows us to learn, develop, and engage across our organization. If you are looking for hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work, CesiumAstro is the place for you. We are actively seeking passionate, collaborative, energetic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team.

The Skylark product line is focused on the rapid design, build, and test ofcutting-edgeactive phased array antennas (AESA) for terrestrial and airborne applications. Current programs span high-power, large-scale ground terminals for missile defense to commercial airline and helicopter connectivity solutions.

We are looking to add a Senior Staff Power Electronics Engineer to our team. In this role you will apply advanced power electronics engineering principles to lead the design, development, integration, and verification of power conversion and power distribution hardware for complex products and platforms. This role contributes to product development by solving highly complex engineering challenges, advancing power electronics methodologies, and serving as a primary technical resource across multiple programs to improve efficiency, reliability, and mission success.

Working cross-functionally with electrical, systems, mechanical, FPGA, software, manufacturing, integration and test, quality, and program teams, the Senior Staff Power Electronics Engineer supports power electronics design, analysis, integration, and verification throughout the product development lifecycle.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Apply advanced power electronics engineering principles to develop complex power conversion architectures, voltage regulation solutions, and electrical power subsystems across multiple programs.
  • Advance power electronics design methodologies by evaluating efficiency targets, thermal management, magnetics, switching topologies, and component selection.
  • Lead complex engineering analyses, design reviews, and technical evaluations requiring ingenuity to resolve challenging power electronics issues.
  • Lead highly complex power electronics integration, laboratory testing, hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, verification, and qualification activities.
  • Evaluate electrical performance, efficiency, thermal behavior, laboratory measurements, and engineering risks while developing solutions that improve product reliability.
  • Guide verification planning, qualification testing, root cause investigations, engineering changes, and design validation supporting successful product delivery.
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for power electronics engineering across significant development efforts requiring coordination between engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance through design reviews, engineering investigations, technical discussions, and complex problem resolution.
  • Promote consistent engineering practices by mentoring engineers and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Advance power electronics design practices, verification methodologies, engineering processes, and configuration management across development programs.
  • Evaluate engineering methods, testing approaches, and development processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and design quality.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, electronics engineering, or a related engineering field with 12–15 years of related experience, or Master's degree with 8–12 years of related experience, or PhD with 5–8 years of related experience in power electronics, electrical design, power conversion, hardware development, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Advanced application of power electronics engineering principles, power conversion, analog circuits, and electrical power systems.
  • Extensive experience developing complex power conversion architectures, voltage regulation solutions, and electrical power subsystems.
  • Strong understanding of thermal management, magnetics, power semiconductor devices, electrical testing, qualification, and verification methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve highly complex power electronics engineering problems requiring ingenuity across multiple development efforts.
  • Exercises sound judgment while guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and advancing power electronics engineering practices.
