Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer for Product ML Infrastructure to shape the technical vision for model training and serving at scale.

You will lead architectures for distributed training, fine-tuning, and high‑scale inference, and collaborate with Ads and Core AI/ML teams to productionize features at Pinterest scale. You will mentor engineers, improve data loading and GPU kernel efficiency, and ensure reliability and data safeguards while advancing AI‑driven product

Qualifications

• Track record of setting technical strategy and delivering infrastructure initiatives in ambiguous environments.
• Production experience with large-scale training and online inference.
• Strong GPU profiling, memory optimization, and distributed execution skills.
• Experience with AI/ML modeling or recommender systems.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and roadmap for model training and serving across PMLI.
• Lead architectures for distributed training, fine-tuning, distillation, evaluation, and high-scale inference.
• Improve efficiency in data loading, distributed execution, and GPU kernels.
• Build reliable, observable platforms with strong quality guarantees.
• Partner with Ads and Core AI/ML teams to productionize features and models at Pinterest scale.
• Drive cross-organizational architecture decisions and mentor senior engineers.
• Use AI-assisted development to accelerate prototyping and validation while ensuring correctness.
