Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Senior Staff AI engineer to lead the GenAI platform design and deployment for a large-scale agentic workflow system supporting 20K+ contact center employees. You will architect, implement and optimize high-performance AI/ML components and collaborate across data science, software, and product teams.

You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and champion enterprise AI best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience with at least two general-purpose programming languages such as Java, C++, Python or C#.
• 10+ years of experience architecting, designing and building multi-component AIML platform utilizing open-source/cloud-agnostic components.
• 6+ years’ experience managing end-to-end software development life cycle (VCs, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, testing, monitoring, etc.).
• 6+ years’ experience with cloud providers such as Azure and AWS.
• 3+ years’ experience utilizing and/or finetuning LLMs to build conversational experiences and/or agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

• Technical Design & Architecture: Own design, architecture and development of multiple interconnected platform components for GenAI agentic workflows.
• System & Platform Evaluation: Select and evaluate software technologies, tools, and frameworks balancing build vs. buy.
• Cross-functional collaboration with data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, product managers, designers to gather requirements and plan backlogs.
• Strategic Planning: Drive multi-year roadmaps for software & platform products and resources.
• Technical Leadership: Lead teams of engineers for platform implementation and resolve complex issues.
• Mentorship: Guide engineers and junior tech leads on best practices and emerging trends.

GEICO is seeking a Senior Staff AI engineer to join our AI org. This person will play key senior technical leadership roles in the development of Geico’s virtual agent platform that elevates the productivity and quality of service for 20K+ contact center employees in claims, service and sales operations, etc. You will be collaborating with a dynamic team of AI and software engineers to design, develop and deploy platform that ensure productivity, scalability and usability of GenAI workflows across Geico. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proven track record of building and architecting high performance, multi-system AI/ML platforms, with hands‑on experience and deep enthusiasm for Generative AI technologies. This role requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

• Technical Design & Architecture: Own design, architecture and development of multiple inter-connected high-performance, durable and scalable platform components that collectively power large sets of end-to-end GenAI agentic workflows. Examples include knowledge curation & management, search, prompt management, workflow orchestration, action execution systems, semantic knowledge graph, etc.
• System & Platform Evaluation: Own technical decisions regarding the selection and evaluation of software technologies, tools, and frameworks, balancing build vs. buy, speed to market, future extensibility, etc.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, product managers, designers to gather requirements, define project scope and prioritize feature backlogs. Establish pragmatic technical visions & roadmaps that balance business outcome, product release timelines and engineering excellence.
• Strategic Planning: Drive the strategic plan and multi-year product roadmaps of software & platform products, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources and timely delivery of solutions in conjunction of system and business dependencies.
• Technical Leadership: Lead teams of experience engineers for platform implementation. Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, ensuring optimal platform performance and reliability. Lead by example in tackling complex technical challenges and driving system-wide architectural improvements.
• Mentorship: Mentor and guide engineers and junior tech leads by setting up engineering best practices, foster career growth, and provide guidance in emerging technical trends and tooling. Collaborate with sr. tech leads in other department to promote enterprise-wide AI best practices and contribute to internal documentations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related field
• 10+ years of professional software development experience with at least two general-purpose programming languages such as Java, C++, Python or C#.
• 10+ years of experience architecting, designing and building multi-component AIML platform utilizing open-source/cloud-agnostic components such as search engine (e.g. elastic search, Qdrant), data warehouse (e.g. snowflake), streaming platform (e.g. Kafka), relational database (e.g. postgresql), Nosql (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra), distributed processing (e.g. Spark, Ray), workflow management (e.g. Airflow, Temporal), robotic process automation, context management, etc.
• 6+ years’ experience managing end-to-end software development life cycle (version control, CICD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, testing, monitoring & alerting, production support etc.)
• 6+ years’ experience with cloud providers such as Azure and AWS
• 3+ years’ experience utilizing and/or finetuning LLMs such as GPT, Llama, Mistral, Claude etc. to build conversational experiences and/or agentic workflows.

Annual Salary $150,000.00 - $300,000.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
