Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Senior Staff AI engineer to lead design and delivery of GenAI-powered workflows across claims, service and sales operations. You’ll shape a high-performance platform with knowledge graphs, search, and orchestration to empower 20K+ contact center colleagues.

Expect senior-level technical leadership, cross-team collaboration, and hands-on work with large-scale AI/ML systems leveraging Azure/AWS, Kubernetes and modern data tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Statistics or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development with at least two general-purpose languages (Java, C++, Python, or C#).
• 10+ years architecting AIML platforms with open-source/cloud-agnostic components (search, data warehouse, streaming, DB, NoSQL, distributed processing, workflow).
• 6+ years’ experience with cloud providers such as Azure and AWS.
• 3+ years’ experience utilizing and/or finetuning LLMs (GPT, Llama, Mistral, Claude).

Responsibilities

• Own design, architecture and development of high-performance GenAI platform components.
• Make technical decisions on software tools and frameworks balancing build vs. buy.
• Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, product managers and designers.
• Drive strategic multi-year roadmaps for software and platform products.
• Lead teams of engineers and mentor junior tech leads; promote best practices.

GEICO is seeking a Senior Staff AI engineer to join our AI org. This person will play key senior technical leadership roles in the development of Geico’s virtual agent platform that elevates the productivity and quality of service for 20K+ contact center employees in claims, service and sales operations, etc. You will be collaborating with a dynamic team of AI and software engineers to design, develop and deploy platform that ensure productivity, scalability and usability of GenAI workflows across Geico. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proven track record of building and architecting high performance, multi-system AI/ML platforms, with hands-on experience and deep enthusiasm for Generative AI technologies. This role requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

• Technical Design & Architecture: Own design, architecture and development of multiple inter-connected high-performance, durable and scalable platform components that collectively power large sets of end-to-end GenAI agentic workflows. Examples include knowledge curation & management, search, prompt management, workflow orchestration, action execution systems, semantic knowledge graph, etc.
• System & Platform Evaluation: Own technical decisions regarding the selection and evaluation of software technologies, tools, and frameworks, balancing build vs. buy, speed to market, future extensibility, etc.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, product managers, designers to gather requirements, define project scope and prioritize feature backlogs. Establish pragmatic technical visions & roadmaps that balance business outcome, product release timelines and engineering excellence.
• Strategic Planning: Drive the strategic plan and multi-year product roadmaps of software & platform products, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources and timely delivery of solutions in conjunction of system and business dependencies.
• Technical Leadership: Lead teams of experience engineers for platform implementation. Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, ensuring optimal platform performance and reliability. Lead by example in tackling complex technical challenges and driving system-wide architectural improvements.
• Mentorship: Mentor and guide engineers and junior tech leads by setting up engineering best practices, foster career growth, and provide guidance in emerging technical trends and tooling. Collaborate with sr. tech leads in other department to promote enterprise-wide AI best practices and contribute to internal documentations.

Annual Salary

$150,000.00 - $300,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
