THE ROLE

Within helps enterprises turn time-consuming human work into work performed by AI agents. Companion securely captures how employees work while preserving privacy. This contributes to the Work Brain: a structured, evidence-backed picture of workflows, decisions, exceptions, and the systems involved. Customers use this context to identify opportunities and build skills and agents grounded in how work actually happens. As a Forward Deployed Architect (FDA), you help customers turn their business objectives and captured workflows into working skills and AI agents. Customer Success helps establish the objective and coordinates discovery. You lead the agent-building engagement: assess opportunities, facilitate decisions with stakeholders, build and evaluate prototypes, and guide the customer's team toward deployment and measurable impact. This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing architecture role. You will build agents and advise customer developers on implementation and operations. You will work closely with customers while partnering with a Customer Success Manager who helps manage the broader relationship. Our aim is to build lasting capability within the customer's organization so its teams can continue developing and improving agents independently. You will work with enterprise business and engineering leaders across different industries, functions, technology stacks, and levels of AI maturity. We expect you to take ownership of your first customer engagement within 30 days and to grow to a portfolio of five or more engagements over time.

Who You Are

We're looking for someone who excels in the following areas:

• Enterprise agent architecture — You design reliable agents and skills, selecting the right architecture for the problem, from deterministic workflows to agent loops and more elaborate orchestration. You understand evals, security, governance, and observability, and design practical human‑agent experiences, including approvals, exceptions, and handoffs that support adoption.
• AI-native execution — You experiment continuously with leading models, coding agents, harnesses, and techniques to improve the speed and quality of your work. You apply those tools thoughtfully and can demonstrate how they affect your output.
• Business understanding — You quickly learn unfamiliar business processes, connect opportunities to measurable objectives, and distinguish valuable automation opportunities from low‑impact ones.
• Clear, consultative communication — You align business and technical stakeholders on scope, approach, responsibilities, and trade‑offs. You make technical recommendations understandable without overselling them.
• You thrive in complex environments — You enjoy solving unfamiliar problems in customer environments, even when the path forward is unclear. You take initiative, work creatively around technical and organizational constraints, and bring in the right people to keep an engagement moving.
• Enterprise delivery experience — You understand the practical constraints of shipping into customer environments, including access, security reviews, testing, governance, procurement, and competing priorities.

What You'll Do

• Lead customer agent‑building engagements — Partner with Customer Success on objectives and discovery, then lead the agent‑building work: align stakeholders on scope, facilitate working sessions, establish a practical plan, and coordinate with customer business owners and developers.
• Select and design high‑value agents — Use captured processes and business context to prioritize opportunities, develop a credible business case, and design agents suited to each customer's systems and maturity.
• Build and test working agents — Use Within's tools and your preferred development environment to create prototypes, evaluate difficult cases, and iterate quickly. Aim for your first live agent prototype within 45 days.
• Guide production and adoption — Work with customer teams on integrations, hardening, security evaluations, UAT, human handoffs, workflow changes, training, and rollout. Build their confidence and ability to maintain the solution.
• Focus on business impact — Define success measures, support customers in tracking results, and use ROI and problem‑solving judgment to guide the engagement. Your responsibility is broader than producing a specification or demo.
• Improve the playbook — Share reusable architectures, evaluations, product feedback, and delivery lessons so subsequent engagements move faster.
