Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer, Product Software to lead development of Hybrid Multi‑Cloud Networking open‑source solutions. You will contribute to CNCF/Linux Foundation efforts, shape product direction, and mentor engineers in Go, Python, C/C++, or Rust, while improving CI/CD with GitHub Actions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and building highly redundant campus-network infrastructure with IPv4/IPv6, BGP, and SDN.
• 5+ years applying network and security principles in cloud deployments including IAM, VPCs, and VPNs.

Senior Staff Engineer, Product Software focused on building Hybrid Multi-Cloud Networking open‑source solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Work in a globally distributed development team on Hybrid Multi‑Cloud Networking open‑source software.
• Cultivate Equinix’s open‑source presence and reputation in organizations and standards bodies such as the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and the Linux Foundation.
• Interact with stakeholders to understand and document product features.
• Provide level‑of‑effort estimates for the product backlog.
• Work with technical project managers and product management teams to define schedules.
• Assist in the analysis and evaluation of new technologies to meet product roadmap and platform goals.
• Help evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies for product features and the platform.
• Advocate and follow best‑practice design and development practices adhering to Engineering standards.
• Prioritize and parallelize tasks, handling ad‑hoc requests as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• 5+ years of experience designing and building highly redundant campus‑network infrastructure with emphasis on IPv4, IPv6, IP routing, RIB/FIB, BGP, PBR, BGP routing to CSPs, Zero Trust, SDN, and cloud networking.
• 5+ years of experience applying network and security principles within cloud infrastructure deployments, with demonstrated expertise in secure transport methods (SSH, TLS, IPSEC, Wireguard), IAM, VPCs, and connectivity such as IaaS peering and VPN solutions.
• Deep understanding of OSI layers and their application.
• Strong track record of delivering resilient network systems and services focused on user experience.
• Hands‑on technical skills, capable of deep dives into complex network system design and implementation.
• Familiarity with APIs and designing solutions that leverage interfaces for network automation, dashboards, or monitoring.
• Comfortable programming in Go, Python, C/C++, Rust, or similar languages.
• DevOps mindset to improve CI/CD using GitHub Actions and review DORA metrics for process improvement.

• California (Non‑SF/BayArea), Connecticut, Maryland, NewYork, NewJersey, Washington state: $137,000 to $225,000 per year
• Colorado, Nevada, RhodeIsland: $124,000 to $204,000 per year
