Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Platform Payments team.

You will define the engineering vision for fiat movement across 50+ countries, architecting a global, scalable, low-latency payments infrastructure and driving platform-level improvements that impact success rates and cost efficiency. Qualifications

• 10+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Deep money-movement architecture experience including PSPs, ISO 20022, routing, and high-volume payment systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the multi-quarter technical strategy for Payments spanning rails, orchestration, and transfers to support new products, geos, and growth.
• Architect and evolve the core Payments platform for high availability, low latency, and cost efficiency at global scale.
• Lead end-to-end design and rollout of large cross-team initiatives with clear milestones and measurable outcomes.
• Set and enforce technical standards for financial correctness across Payments, including idempotency, reconciliation, and auditability.
• Partner with FinHub, Payments Risk, Regulatory Platform, and Product to balance customer experience and compliance.
• Provide deep technical mentorship to senior engineers across Payments pods.
