Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior/Staff Engineer for Global Probe Modeling in Boise, Idaho.

You will evaluate capital impacts of process changes and lead capacity planning, financial analysis, and AI-enabled planning across the manufacturing network. The role focuses on optimization of capacity, development of reporting tools, and collaboration with Manufacturing and R&D leaders to drive efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 1+ year of experience applying Operations Research methodologies such as Linear Programming, Queuing Theory, Statistical Analysis, or Theory of Constraints.
• 1+ year of experience with data analytics or statistical tools like Python, SQL, Tableau, R, JMP, Minitab, or PL/SQL.
• 1+ year of experience in Production Planning and Inventory Control concepts (BTO, BTT, BTF, EOQ, Lot Sizing, MRP).
• 1+ year of experience with Supply Chain or Project Management concepts (Lean, CPM, PERT, Safety Stock, Production Scheduling).

Department Introduction

The Operations Central Team drives manufacturing execution, capacity planning, and capital optimization across Micron's global manufacturing network! The team partners closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Production, and Planning organizations to improve operational efficiency, enable cost savings, and support strategic business objectives through data-driven decision making.

Position Overview

As a Global Planning Modeling Engineer, you will serve as a key contact for the manufacturing network, evaluating and presenting the capital impacts of process and technology changes to Manufacturing and R&D leaders. This role is responsible for capacity modeling, capital planning, financial analysis, and process optimization while demonstrating AI-enabled solutions to enhance planning, reporting, and decision-making across the organization!

Responsibilities

• Optimize installed equipment capacity and lead site-level and tool-level studies to improve throughput and manufacturing efficiency.


• Manage, audit, and validate Probe capacity models and systems to determine network capital requirements.


• Perform financial analyses for capital equipment investments, including metrics optimization, process flexibility, capacity sharing, and equipment repurposing opportunities.


• Develop and manage network tool utilization strategies to improve capital efficiency and equipment effectiveness.


• Communicate capacity metrics, utilization strategies, and key performance indicators to partners, driving accountability and continuous improvement.


• Design, track, and present capital change proposals and recommendations to manufacturing leadership using reporting tools such as Tableau and formal presentations.


• Build and implement tools that improve capital efficiency, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and enhance manufacturing planning processes.


• Leverage AI tools, including Copilot, agents, and generative AI assistants, to automate planning and reporting activities, improve analysis, and enhance decision quality.


• Develop workflow improvements using Python, Excel, VBA, and other technologies while ensuring compliance with Micron's AI Governance Policy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.


• 1+ year of experience applying one of the following Operations Research methodologies: Linear Programming, Queuing Theory, Statistical Analysis, or Theory of Constraints.


• 1+ year of experience using one of the following data analytics or statistical tools: Python, SQL, Tableau, R, JMP, Minitab, or PL/SQL.


• 1+ year of experience working with one of the following Production Planning and Inventory Control concepts: BTO, BTT, BTF, Risk Pooling, EOQ, Lot Sizing, or MRP.


• 1+ year of experience applying one of the following Supply Chain or Project Management concepts: Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service Metrics, Safety Stock Management, CPM, PERT, or Production Scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience developing automation solutions using Python, Excel VBA, or similar technologies.


• 2+ years of experience creating dashboards, visualizations, and reporting solutions using Tableau or other business intelligence tools.


• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing capacity planning, capital planning, operations planning, financial modeling, or semiconductor manufacturing environments.


• Experience demonstrating AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, AI agents, or generative AI technologies to improve planning, reporting, or analytical workflows.


• Experience communicating analytical insights and business recommendations to multi-functional teams and senior leaders.
