Qualifications

Department Introduction

Micron’s Global Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) team partners across sites and functions to ensure responsible, compliant, and sustainable operations worldwide. The Environmental & Chemical Compliance team leads enterprise environmental compliance, chemical management, emerging regulatory readiness, and environmental risk management programs supporting Micron's global manufacturing network.

Position Overview

As a Senior or Staff Engineer, Global Environmental Technology, you will provide technical leadership and domain expertise for Micron's environmental compliance, emerging contaminant, and environmental technology programs. You will evaluate environmental data, treatment technologies, source characterization information, and evolving regulatory requirements to support data-driven decisions and environmental risk management strategies across global operations.

This role also employs artificial intelligence (AI), advanced analytics, and digital technologies to enhance environmental data analysis, accelerate technical evaluations, strengthen regulatory intelligence, and improve environmental compliance outcomes. The position supports Micron's global manufacturing network and requires periodic domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze environmental monitoring results, source characterization data, pilot studies, and treatment technology performance to support operational and compliance decisions.
  • Develop technical assessments, recommendations, and reports related to environmental treatment systems, compliance strategies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and assess evolving environmental regulations and support implementation strategies across Micron's global manufacturing sites.
  • Partner with EHSS, Facilities, Manufacturing, Technology Development, and Legal teams to resolve environmental compliance and technology challenges.
  • Leverage AI, advanced analytics, and digital tools to improve environmental data management, compliance forecasting, and technical decision-making.
  • Support environmental risk management initiatives through data-driven evaluations and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized processes, tools, and standard methodologies that enhance program consistency and operational excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental engineering, environmental compliance, environmental technology, wastewater treatment, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills with the ability to interpret complex environmental data.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across global, multi-functional teams and influence technical decisions in a matrixed environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or other highly regulated industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of emerging contaminants, wastewater treatment systems, air emissions control technologies, or environmental monitoring programs.
  • Experience using AI, automation, analytics, or digital technologies to improve environmental program performance, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
