Job summary

LiveView Technologies seeks a Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer to lead the embedded camera software roadmap, owning architecture from firmware to streaming and analytics. You will collaborate across hardware, cloud, and product teams in a JDM framework.

Role supports remote work or on‑site in Utah or Seattle, with regular travel to American Fork and JDM partners. We value deep embedded Linux, Yocto, and edge AI experience across video systems.

About This Role

As a Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer, you will provide overall technical leadership for our embedded cameras ecosystem, owning the architecture, design, and hands‑on implementation of features for our next‑generation video streaming products. You will drive strategic technology initiatives, shaping the engineering organization while collaborating closely with hardware, cloud, and product teams to guide our embedded software roadmap. Your team vertically owns embedded camera development—from device‑level firmware and encoding to storage, streaming, and analytics. Operating within a JDM model, you will leverage custom Yocto distributions to build robust, scalable edge devices that power LVT’s intelligent solutions.

This role can be fully remote, or based on‑site at HQ in Utah or in Seattle. Regular travel is expected to our Headquarters in American Fork, Utah (if remote) as well as to our Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) partners.

Role Responsibilities

• System‑Wide Architecture: Own and drive architectural decisions for LVT's embedded camera platforms, ensuring designs hold up over multi‑year horizons and support both current capabilities and future technical bets.
• Domain Ownership: Architect and govern the software running directly on edge devices, as well as the underlying infrastructure for on‑camera encoding, video storage, streaming, and retrieval.
• JDM & Strategic Alignment: Serve as the primary technical authority in a Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) model, keeping cross‑functional work aligned across third‑party software partners and internal hardware teams.
• Cross‑Functional Leadership: Broker alignment by working effectively with Technical Program Managers (TPM) to collaborate seamlessly across Hardware, Product Management (PM), and other Software teams to ensure cohesive product delivery from the edge to the cloud.
• Tactical Execution & Mentorship: Drive rigorous architecture and code reviews, manage complex schedule planning, and proactively mentor engineers to raise the technical floor of the organization.
• Edge Analytics & AI Integration: Direct the integration of on‑camera analytics that turn raw video into actionable signals, including model deployment to the SoC's inference accelerator and managing the memory, latency, and accuracy trade‑offs involved.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Senior Technical Leadership: Proven track record as a Staff or Senior Staff Embedded Software Engineer capable of navigating high ambiguity and turning complex architectural problems into scoped, prioritized work (10+ years of total experience).
• Embedded Systems Mastery: Deep expertise in embedded Linux environments (BSP, device drivers, HAL, bootloaders, system bring‑up) and custom Yocto distributions, complemented by a foundational understanding of low‑level hardware and MCU/RTOS.
• Advanced Programming: Expert-level proficiency in embedded C and C++. Experience with Go is a plus.
• Advanced Debugging: Demonstrated ability to debug complex hardware/software interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and JTAG debuggers.
• Video Domain Depth: Comprehensive experience designing systems involving video, audio, image processing, and streaming technologies (H.264/H.265).
• JDM & Partner Leadership: Demonstrated success driving technical outcomes within a JDM framework, evaluating vendor capabilities, and holding third‑party partners to high engineering standards.
• Analytics Integration: Experience architecting edge‑based camera analytics and deploying resource‑efficient computer vision or Edge AI models.
• Engineering Multiplier: Recognized as a technical authority whose judgment generalizes across teams; a leader who actively shapes engineering culture, drives schedule planning, and raises the talent floor.
• AI Tooling Efficiency: Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools to enhance design, coding, and automated testing across the software development lifecycle.
