Job summary

Project Citizenship in Boston seeks a Senior Staff Attorney to lead the Legal Department, supervise staff, and provide direct representation for clients seeking naturalization. This role blends legal expertise with leadership to support the organization’s client services program.

The Senior Staff Attorney advises on complex immigration issues, coordinates legal work, and trains staff and volunteers within a collaborative Client Services team.

Qualifications

• US State Bar admission required.
• 3–5 years of immigration law experience.
• 1–2 years of management experience.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Legal Department, supervise staff, and provide direct client representation in naturalization matters.
• Oversee group naturalization workshops and volunteer attorney engagement.
• Manage intake, eligibility assessment, and issue spotting for naturalization and citizenship applications.
• Review records and conduct legal research to determine eligibility and fee waivers.
• Supervise N-648 program, approve forms, and oversee pro bono representation interviews.
