Google DeepMind is seeking a Staff Research Engineer, Applied AI to lead the development and deployment of novel AI applications leveraging Google's generative models. You will rapidly prototype features and collaborate with partner teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.

You will translate research into real-world products, scale from concept to production, and drive impact for Google and top customers. DeepMind emphasizes safety and ethics while building AI-powered software across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years software development experience with system design and algorithms.
• 5 years building, training, and deploying ML models in production.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with external parties and cross-functional teams to define clear product objectives and designs.
• Curate specialized datasets, design evaluations, and perform model fine-tuning for real-world performance.
• Lead development of novel AI solutions from 0 to 1 using internal platforms and DM foundation models.
• Share evaluations, edge cases, and deployment signals with core research teams to guide frontier models.
• Act as a technical leader, establishing best practices for generative AI deployment.
