State of Maine’s Department of the Secretary of State, Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Augusta, seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to supervise a three-person staff and oversee daily/monthly reconciliations, A/R, A/P, CR, and banking functions. You will drive improvements, ensure compliance with GAAP, SAAM, GASB, OSC guidance, and support leadership on controls.

Formación

• Intermediate to advanced education, training, and/or experience in accounting, business administration, financial planning, budgeting, or another related field.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions; an I-9 form is required.
• The successful candidate must pass a National Criminal Background check, which may include fingerprinting.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise and mentor a team of three Staff Accountants; oversee hiring, training, evaluations, and a positive work environment.
• Oversee complex reconciliations and troubleshooting, recurring journal entries and disbursements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Drive process improvements by identifying inefficiencies, implementing innovative solutions, and ensuring cross-system accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to enhance internal controls, improve operational efficiency, and uphold accounting best practices.
