We are assisting our client in the hiring of a Senior Staff Accountant. Our client provides cloud-based collection software solutions for banks, credit unions, and fintechs to collect and manage their portfolios.

Their technology helps financial institutions increase collections efficiency, improve the digital consumer experience, reduce staff costs, anticipate delinquencies, and make more informed credit decisions.

The company signed 27 new financial institutions in the first half of 2026 alone, ranging from $64 million to $5.6 billion in assets across fourteen states. They also recently added one of the two largest credit unions in the U.S.—a $60 billion institution serving more than three million members.

The Role

The Senior Staff Accountant will support the Accounting Manager and CFO across financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance. This is a hands-on role with broad exposure to accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger activity, close processes, payroll support, and audit preparation.

The team is looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates proactively, and can manage competing deadlines in a lean, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounts payable activities, including vendor management, employee expense processing, and payments.

Support accounts receivable by reviewing aging reports, tracking outstanding balances, and communicating with customers.

Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, independently researching and resolving discrepancies.

Own assigned portions of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, completing work ahead of close calendar deadlines.

Perform bank, credit card, and payment processor reconciliations involving high-volume transactional data.

Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for external auditors and internal audit requests.

Assist with payroll processing and review, including year-end W-2/1099 reconciliations and coordination of tax filings.

Partner with Operations, Legal, People & Culture, and Product teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment of business activities.

Work with audit firms, banking groups, and other external partners on reporting and compliance needs.

Provide regular updates on deliverables, flag issues early, and recommend a path to resolution.

Identify, document, and implement improvements to accounting processes.

Handle sensitive financial, payroll, and personnel information with confidentiality and sound judgment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

At least five years of accounting experience, including exposure to full month-end and year-end close cycles.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with high-volume transactional data.

Ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently, prioritize competing demands, and deliver complete, accurate work on schedule.

Clear, responsive written and verbal communication, with a proactive approach to raising issues and keeping others informed.

Comfort working as an individual contributor on a lean team, with an understanding of how individual deliverables affect the broader team.

Interest in incorporating AI and emerging technologies into daily workflows using company-approved tools, along with a commitment to continued professional development.

Preferred Experience

Background in fintech, SaaS, or financial services.

Experience with Sage Intacct or a similar accounting platform.

Familiarity with SAP Concur expense management.
