Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, MI seeks a senior leader to drive Supplier Quality improvements across North American plants. You will engage plant and supplier leadership to drive upfront Launch Planning, Industrialization and downstream quality improvements with high-leverage suppliers.

Weekly travel to Ford and supplier sites is expected. This role emphasizes APQP/PPAP process oversight, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to quality programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Supplier Technical Assistance group including Launch and Resident Managers & teams.
  • Manage program readiness via APQP and drive issue resolution to deliver on-time programs with quality.
  • Ensure process adherence by Ford teams and supplier engagement on major/moderate programs.
  • Monitor PPAP status and communicate needs from cross-functional leaders.
  • Communicate resource needs to management to support Launch objectives.
  • Facilitate issue resolution with Product Vehicle Team and Manufacturing as needed.
  • Interface with supplier sites for containment and closure of quality issues.
  • Lead PPAP timing and Phase PPAP approvals.
  • Participate in VRT and Vehicle Quality Reviews as needed.
  • Support pre-production builds and resolution of supplier quality concerns.
  • Ensure timely containment of stop shipments and vehicle releases.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned to STA activities.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and HR practices.
  • Lead employee development per HR policy.

In this position...

This position provides an exciting opportunity to lead Supplier Quality improvement across multiple vehicle plants in North America. You will engage with Ford plant and supplier leadership to drive upfront Launch Planning and Industrialization as well as downstream R/1000, QR and delivery improvement with some of Ford's highest leverage suppliers. Weekly travel to Ford and supplier plants should be expected.

What you'll do...
  • Manage Supplier Technical Assistance group consisting of Launch and Resident Managers & supporting teams.
  • Manage program readiness through APQP, aligning with cross functional leaders, driving issue resolution in order to deliver programs on time with Quality.
  • Ensure Process adherence by both internal Ford skill teams as well as Supplier Engagement on Major and Moderate Programs
  • Monitor Schedule B, Industrialization Readiness and PPAP on each Program and communicate status and help needed from cross functional leaders including Site Supplier Technical Assistance
  • Communicate to management to assure adequate resources are in place. Prioritize and allocate resources to achieve Launch and Resident team objectives.
  • Support the facilitation of help needed with PVT (Product Vehicle Team) and/or Manufacturing for issue resolution where suppliers need help from Ford.
  • Ensure direct interface with supplier manufacturing sites for containment and closure of zero Month In Service special cause supplier process (SP) current model quality projects.
  • Manage and review Phased PPAP status and timing plans to deliver on time Phase PPAP approvals
  • Ensure participation as needed in VRT (Variability Reduction Team) and forums and Vehicle Quality Reviews (VQR’s).
  • Support pre-production builds and drive resolution of supplier quality concerns
  • Ensure timely containment of stop shipments and release of vehicles on hold for quality concerns
  • Ensure communication of Best Practice/Lessons Learned to STA activities
  • Drive adherence to all organizational and corporate policy and procedures
  • Lead employee development consistent with Human Resources policy and procedures

  • Bachelor of Science / Engineering or Equivalent in a relevant field
  • Be proficient in English when working with global teams
  • Knowledge of Problem Solving Tools.
  • Experience in the use of Quality Tools and Project Management

  • Ability to travel in the US, Canada, and Mexico approximately 75% of the time
