Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings Inc. is seeking a skilled SQL Server DBA to administer enterprise SQL Server environments, including High Availability (Always On) and DR planning. You will lead performance tuning, backups, and automation, while collaborating with reporting teams to ensure data reliability.

Responsibilities include schema reviews, monitoring, and onboarding junior engineers. A strong background in SSRS/Qlik BI tooling and Python automation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups in multi-site environments.
• Experience implementing backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Proficiency with scripting PowerShell and T-SQL for automation.
• Experience with SSRS, Qlik, and data presentation tools is required.
• Experience supporting and tuning BI/analytics reporting workloads.
• Experience with database monitoring tools such as Idera SQL DM.
• Knowledge of SQL Server security best practices and auditing.
• Python for automation or tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and optimize SQL Server environments for performance and reliability.
• Design and maintain highly available database architectures (Always On).
• Lead performance diagnostics, query tuning, indexing, and workload analysis.
• Collaborate with app and infra teams on schemas, standards, and releases.
• Develop proactive monitoring and alerting for risks to performance and availability.
• Automate DB tasks using PowerShell and T-SQL; manage upgrades and migrations.
• Support reporting workloads and BI users; maintain runbooks and docs.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
