Job summary

Lawelawe Defense Inc is seeking a Database Administrator III to manage Microsoft SQL Server environments across development, test, and production. You will design, optimize, and sustain databases, implement high-availability, and support data migrations and reporting in a DoD-adjacent setting.

The role requires 4+ years in DB administration, strong problem solving, documentation, and a current Active Secret clearance, with certifications like Security+ and SQL Server credentials highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• 4+ years of progressive experience in database administration
• Expertise administering Microsoft SQL Server databases in an enterprise environment
• Experience supporting Microsoft-based server environments, database lifecycle management, data scrubbing, and data comparison and review
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong documentation, verbal communication, and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Active Secret security clearance
• CompTIA Security+ Certification
• Current database administration certification (e.g., Microsoft MCSA: SQL 2016 DB Administration or Oracle DB 12c)

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and manage Microsoft SQL Server across development, test, and production environments.
• Design, develop, manage, enhance, optimize, configure, troubleshoot, test, and sustain data, databases, clusters, and replication capabilities.
• Provision, modify, and manage data and schemas, including cloning, backup, troubleshooting, account management, and decommissioning.
• Administer databases and incorporate changes to supporting data models, schemas, and related software.
• Manage the database lifecycle, including data scrubbing, data comparison, review, and improvements.
• Configure and manage SQL Server high-availability solutions and implement backup, recovery, DR and BC plans.
• Create, manage, and deploy SSIS packages for data export/import/transform between files and SQL Server.
• Develop T-SQL procedures, triggers, views, functions, and table changes to support data workflows and reporting.
• Perform schema changes and production DB conversions during upgrades with testing across environments.
• Monitor, analyze, and report database metrics; establish baselines; adjust resources to improve performance.
• Daily database operational checks and end-of-day status reports.
• Address security vulnerabilities, strengthen authentication, and implement STIG requirements and patches.
• Keep environments current with emerging tech and upgrades; ensure license compliance.
• Track projects and maintain version control for scripts and deployments.
• Create and maintain data dictionaries and lifecycle documentation.
• Develop operating procedures and recovery documentation.
• Mentor junior DBAs.
• Maintain access to DMHRSi and biweekly workload documentation.
• Respond to issues within five business days; resolve critical bugs within two hours; participate in on-call coverage.
• Other duties as assigned.
