Job summary

iLabs Inc. is seeking a senior SQL Server Database Administrator to manage a large fleet of SQL Server instances, implement high availability, perform deep tuning, and drive security baselines. You will mentor junior staff, lead incident response, and coordinate DR drills within a CONUS-wide setup.

Required are 8+ years of hands-on experience, strong T-SQL, and automation skills (PowerShell), with working knowledge of Azure/AWS databases and other engines like PostgreSQL or MySQL. U.S.

• 8+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience.
• U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. with ability to obtain Public Trust.

Responsibilities

• Lead incidents and root cause analyses; set monitoring standards and alerts.
• Own policy, patching schedules, and audits for the SQL environment.
• Mentor mid-level DBAs and drive best practices for disaster recovery and DR drills.

Job description

Experience: At least 8 years of hands-on SQL Server database administration. This is

• U.S. citizen, or authorized to work in the U.S. (green card holder or H-1B)
• Able to pass a federal background investigation and obtain Public Trust

clearance

• Must live and work within the continental U.S. (CONUS)

Technical expertise:

• SQL Server 2019, 2022 and 2025: installation, configuration, upgrades and patching
• SQL Server clustering and Always On Availability Groups; the environment has 61 SQL Server instances and 5 Always On clusters
• Advanced T-SQL and SQL scripting
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB and MS Access
• Backup and restore strategy, point-in-time recovery and DR drills
• Deep performance tuning: query optimizer internals, indexing and storage
• Security and compliance: encryption, auditing, hardening to DISA STIG and NIST baselines, audit support
• Automation through PowerShell, scripts or infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Leading incidents and root cause analysis (RCA); setting monitoring standards and alert categories
• SQL Server databases on Azure or AWS Leadership: Sets standards and patching schedules, owns policy and audits, and mentors the Mid-Level SQL DBA.

Preferred:

• Microsoft certification (for example, Azure Database Administrator Associate or MCSE: Data Management)
