Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Splunk Engineer to support a cybersecurity program focused on enterprise security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response. This on-site role in Newington, VA requires a TS/SCI clearance and deep expertise with Splunk environments to enhance visibility and detection capabilities.

The Senior Splunk Engineer will design, administer, and optimize Splunk deployments, dashboards, and data models while partnering with SOC and Security Engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 10+ years experience in Splunk engineering, SIEM, or security ops.
• Hands-on with Splunk Enterprise, log management, event correlation, alert tuning, detection engineering, architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, firewall, IDS/IPS, cloud and network security logs; scripting in Python/PowerShell/Bash.
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, administer, and maintain Splunk Enterprise in a large-scale distributed environment.
• Develop and optimize correlation searches, dashboards, data models, and alerting content.
• Lead data onboarding, parsing, CIM mapping, and integration of security and operational data sources.
• Perform health checks, troubleshooting, performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization.
• Collaborate with SOC, Threat Intelligence, and Security Engineering to improve threat detection, hunting, and incident response.
