Job summary

L3Harris Space and Mission Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for our Fort Wayne, IN location. You will develop embedded software for space-based imaging payloads and participate in the complete life cycle from requirements to testing and support of subsystems.

The role requires a BS with 4+ years or a MS with 2+ years, experience in C/C++, and familiarity with Agile methods; security clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus. Sign-on bonus up to $25K may be included with offers.

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience; graduate degree with 2+ years preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of software development experience in C/C++.

Job Description:

L3Harris Space and Mission Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer for our Fort Wayne, IN location. As part of a passionate and accomplished software team, you will develop embedded software for space-based imaging payloads. You will participate in the complete life cycle of the software, from requirements, design, development, implementation, testing, verification, and support of algorithms, controls, and subsystems for complex space applications. The role requires the application of the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic team environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. Our missions support scientific research, national security, and commercial opportunities. We are looking for someone to establish their technical expertise, leadership skills, and innovation to positively impact our mission.

Essential Functions:

• Work within a small, embedded software team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost/scope/schedule commitments.

• Minimum 1 year of software development experience in C/C++.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Background in developing and maintaining satellite payloads.
• Knowledge in space domain and applications.
• Fundamental knowledge of computer architecture and networks.
• Experience with SysML/UML, Python, Agile, and DevSecOps.
• Experience with Jira, Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, and Confluence.
• Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems and multi-threaded applications.
• Excellent ability to analyze problems and identify the root cause of problems quickly.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Strong technical skillset, able to contribute to requirements analysis, design, code and unit test, integration and test, and requirements sell-off.
• Familiar with Linux and Windows operating systems.
