Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Thermal Engineer to own the spacecraft thermal design from concept to on-orbit operations.

You will develop and validate thermal models, work with flight hardware, and collaborate across engineering teams to meet vehicle and payload thermal requirements. You will lead passive and active thermal control solutions, perform analyses in Ansys Thermal Desktop, and support testing and flight data correlation to improve model accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in thermal engineering or analysis.
• Experience with thermal modeling and analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer fundamentals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead payload thermal design from concept through qualification, launch, and on-orbit operations.
• Own the thermal technical interface with external customers, including requirements definition and interface development.
• Develop and maintain spacecraft- and payload-level thermal models using Ansys Thermal Desktop and perform analyses across mission environments.
• Develop and implement passive thermal control solutions, including high-performance heat transport and heat rejection technologies.
• Design and analyze active thermal-fluid systems, including component sizing and system-level performance analysis.
• Drive thermal design decisions and collaborate with mechanical, systems, avionics, GNC, and other engineering disciplines.
• Plan and execute thermal subsystem milestones and technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Support thermal hardware development, integration, build, and test, including vacuum testing.
• Correlate test and flight data to thermal models to improve accuracy.
