Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks a Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer I/II to ensure health and optimal performance of a growing satellite fleet for commercial and government missions.

You will work with design, AIT, flight software, propulsion, GNC and ground software teams to improve space-ground capabilities, including commissioning, orbit raising, and potential re-entry phases.

This role can be hired at Senior Engineer I or II level and requires ability to obtain US security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• 5+ years in space mission design, satellite subsystems, or spacecraft operations
• Strong knowledge of spacecraft subsystems and components
• Proficiency in high-level languages such as Python, Ruby, C++
• Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance

Responsibilities

• Operate spacecraft in missions, ensuring health and safety and mission objectives
• Support commissioning, orbit raising, routine operations, and re-entry phases
• Collaborate with design, AIT, flight software, propulsion, GNC and ground software teams
• Provide technical interface between Auckland and Long Beach teams
• Develop and test ground/software sequences and CI processes
