Job summary

True Anomaly in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design of spacecraft from concept to flight hardware. You will own structural systems for LEO/GEO satellites, small sat platforms, and on-orbit servicing vehicles, translating mission requirements into robust, flight-ready hardware.

You will work across structures, thermal, avionics, mechanisms, and propulsion teams, drive design reviews, and mentor junior engineers while upholding GD&T standards and a culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 6-14 years in mechanical design, space hardware.
  • Experience designing structures for launch loads and margins.
  • Hands-on with spacecraft mechanisms design and deployment systems.
  • Experience packaging electronics within spacecraft structures.
  • Familiarity with propulsion mechanical integration.
  • Proficiency in NX and/or SolidWorks for flight hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical structures for satellites and servicing vehicles.
  • Own end-to-end development of spacecraft structural systems from concept to flight hardware.
  • Design primary and secondary structures for launch loads and testing per ICD requirements.
  • Lead deployment systems and mechanisms design for on-orbit operation.
  • Package electronics within spacecraft structures with attention to thermal and EMI considerations.
  • Develop 3D CAD models and drawings, enforce GD&T across the program.
  • Lead design reviews (PDR/CDR/TRR) and manage technical risks and actions.
  • Collaborate with structures, thermal, avionics, mechanisms, and propulsion teams.
