Job summary

True Anomaly seeks a seasoned GNC engineer to lead end-to-end development of spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control systems for missions in LEO, GEO, and cislunar environments.

You will design, test, and validate flight software, develop attitude and orbit determination algorithms, and build high-fidelity simulations while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with avionics, software, propulsion, and mission operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, physics, or related field.
• 12+ years hands-on experience developing and fielding spacecraft GNC systems.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, with algorithm implementation.
• Experience with EKF/UKF/batch, sensor fusion, covariance analysis.
• Ability to lead cross-disciplinary technical efforts and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end development of spacecraft GNC systems, including architecture and flight operations.
• Design, test, and validate GNC flight software for LEO, GEO, and cislunar environments.
• Develop attitude and orbit determination algorithms with sensor fusion and covariance analysis.
• Design control laws for attitude, orbit control and maneuver execution with robust performance.
• Lead creation of high-fidelity simulations, Monte Carlo pipelines, and SIL/HIL integration.
• Conduct system-level GNC trade studies and recommend hardware such as wheels, actuators, and sensors.
• Define subsystem requirements, verification plans, and participate in design reviews.
• Work cross-functionally with avionics, software, propulsion, mechanisms, mission operations, and systems engineering teams.
• Support on-orbit commissioning, calibration, maneuver planning, fault investigation, and anomaly resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers, lead design/code reviews, and establish GNC best practices.
