Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Principal Spacecraft Avionics Hardware Engineer to design and architect flight-critical electrical hardware for satellite buses, reentry vehicles, and payloads. You will define requirements, perform design, and ensure qualification through testing for high-reliability space environments.

The role requires leading edge PCB design, power electronics, and interfaces (SPI, RS422, 1000BASE-T), with collaboration across sensor, GNC, and software teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing electronics hardware for aerospace, automotive, or other high-reliability industries.
• 3+ years hardware experience working on space applications.
• Own the architecture and implementation of complex electronics systems from design to production/deployment.
• Advanced PCB design with signal integrity, power and grounding, EMI.

Responsibilities

• PCB level electronics design at all lifecycle stages: schematic capture, layout, validation, fabrication, assembly, and test.
• Contribute to avionics architecture and system design for next-generation vehicles and upgrades.
• Define standards, processes, and procedures for electrical engineering at Varda.
• Translate high-level objectives into subsystem requirements and milestones.
• Serve as avionics SME for satellite, reentry vehicle, and payload hardware; support other teams.
• Collaborate with flight software, thermal, GNC, and structures for cross-vehicle impacts.
• Own product acceptance and qualification testing for space environments (Thermal, Vibe, Shock, TVAC, EMI).
• Provide direction on system-level integration test plans and diagnose test failures.
