Job summary

Lodestar Space seeks a Simulations Software Engineer to build and validate the environment where MITHRIL is developed. You’ll create high-fidelity sensor and environment models in Unreal, stand up hardware-/software-in-the-loop benches, and design distributed services for reproducible CI-based simulations.

You’ll work with perception, prediction, decision, and missions teams to decide what to simulate and at what fidelity, driven by an extreme ownership culture and a path toward leadership in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of industry experience with end-to-end ownership of a simulation stack or major subsystem.
• Strong background in real-time distributed system design, determinism and time synchronization.
• Experience standing up HIL/SIL benches with CI and automated regression testing.
• Experience mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend the mission simulation environment for Lodestar's autonomy stack.
• Develop high-fidelity sensor and environment models (EO cameras, lighting).
• Create software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop benches for flight software testing.
• Design distributed simulation services to run missions at scale.
• Own internal simulation tooling, telemetry, and regression frameworks.
