Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Member of the Technical Staff – Flight Mechanics to join the EOFDD team in a hybrid role. The position is based in El Segundo, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, Chantilly, VA, or Albuquerque, NM with the expectation of four onsite days per week.

You will perform trajectory design and optimization, astrodynamics analysis, propulsion evaluation, and development of new flight dynamics tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering, physics or applied mathematics or related disciplines
• Two years of experience in flight mechanics, astrodynamics, trajectory optimization or related areas
• Proficiency in C, C++, Fortran, Python, Linux, and/or MATLAB
• Willing to travel domestically ~10% of the time
• Ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance (TS/ SCI preferred)

Responsibilities

• Trajectory design and optimization for launch vehicles and spacecraft
• Astrodynamics and orbital mechanics analysis including orbit propagation and maneuver design
• Evaluation of propulsion options and mission performance assessment
• Developing flight dynamics tools and algorithms
• Applying AI/ML/RL techniques to flight mechanics modeling
• Collaborating with engineering partners to deliver integrated solutions
