Job summary

Edwards Vacuum in Basom, NY is seeking a Senior Sourcing Engineer to identify and evaluate suppliers worldwide, with a focus on local sourcing when feasible. The role collaborates with engineering, production, and product teams on material requirements to optimize procurement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing or procurement in a production environment.
• Solid negotiation skills.
• Results focused with the ability to report on KPIs.
• Critical thinking with fact-based root-cause analysis.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications.
• Experience with casting, machining, assembly, and metal fabrication processes (plus).
• Proficient communication in English, verbal and written; second language preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Proficient with MRP systems; SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and research new suppliers and sourcing opportunities globally, with local sourcing focus.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, and production on material requirements.
• Develop and cultivate relationships with suppliers as escalation point of contact.
• Negotiate Master Supply Agreements with key suppliers as per company requirements.
• Use root-cause analysis to improve quality, on-time delivery, cost, and working capital.
• Develop commodity strategies mapping current and future states for improvements.
• Support cost-reduction efforts with quoting, make-vs-buy analyses.
• Assist purchasing team with vendor creation and maintenance.
• Coordinate purchasing plans with production to minimize total cost of ownership.
• Participate in supplier business reviews and scorecard discussions.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain full compliance with safety and ethics requirements.

Compensation

You Will

• Identify and research new suppliers and sourcing opportunities globally, with a strong focus on local sourcing when feasible
• Regular collaboration with engineering, product management, and production teams on material requirements
• Develop and cultivate positive relationships with assigned supplier base as the escalation point of contact
• Negotiate Master Supply Agreements with key suppliers per company requirements
• Use root‑cause analysis to drive continuous improvement activities across key performance indicators: quality, on‑time delivery, cost, and net working capital
• Develop and implement commodity strategies to map current and future states to determine continuous improvement activities
• Utilize quoting, value engineering, make‑vs‑buy analysis, etc. to support corporate cost reduction efforts
• Support operational purchasing team with vendor creation and maintenance
• Collaborate with operational purchasing and planning to ensure purchasing plans are optimized for production requirements and lowest total cost of ownership
• Participate in regular supplier business reviews in collaboration with operational purchasing (Supplier Scorecard Reviews)
• Effectively communicate with internal and external key stakeholders
• Full compliance with all company safety and ethics requirements

Qualifications
