Qualifications

  • Advanced training beyond high school in Sonography.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience as a sonographer.
  • Licensure/registrations such as ARDMS/ARRT may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Train and orient staff; provide day-to-day direction and monitor performance.
  • Assist with interviewing, staff development, and morale.
  • Interpret department policies; identify performance improvements and manage resources.
  • Serve as technical resource and preceptor; collaborate with other departments.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment for general, vascular and/or cardiac studies.
  • Review patient records and orders to ensure exam accuracy; select transducers and settings.
  • Maintain records and billable codes; perform QA checks and report issues.
  • Position patients safely and assist with lifting and transfers as needed.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and adapt to patient needs.
